I don't think I expected to be quite so tied up with work this past month; less than a handful of trips out of the house isn't particularly conducive to... Anything, really. I bought a Sigma 24-35mm f2 ART, with the hope of being able to use it to take pictures for Ffosygrafelisaf Camping. Before that, though, I must practice. I've been consistently disappointed with what I'm doing for the past few months, and the last time I used anything under 30mm was... Disposable film cameras. Remember those? Good times.
I hope to add to this tests section somewhat over the coming month, prior to using the lens "properly".
What can I say? A good subject is a good subject, regardless of photographer skill.
A trip to Amroth for Mothers' day was the perfect excuse to get practice in with the 24-35mm. As luck would have it, the day started off quite overcast but moved to sunny (and boy was it hot sunshine for early March...) so I got the chance to practice in both types of lighting.
Taking a trip along the backroads from my rented storage container the other day, I happened upon a field that included no more than a solitary barn. I immediately knew it was what I was looking for to "showcase" the "Dark Contrasty Blue" preset I made, so the next weekend I made a point of returning to the field with my camera. That afternoon, as luck would have it, brought a bunch of birds... So naturally I had to do something.
For the first time in a good number of years, I was completely blindsided by the clock change. I would like to formally petition for a removal of DST / BST, please and thank you. One thing by which I wasn't blindsided was the goodness of a certain dog. Look at 'im! How many galleries of him will there be, you ask? Certainly more than 5, I should think.
Who asked for excessive effects on images? Probably nobody. Who gets them? Everyone who scrolls down this far, that's who, because I like them. All are from Frankentoon's Faux 77 pack. It's only the base presets with a couple of modifications; a couple used 70's Base Colors, one used B75 Portrait. One got itself effected by a fake tilt-shift DoF blur...
