This is a page of firsts. First time trying to photograph for commercial (read: non-personal) purposes. First time trying to get a cohesive feel throughout an entire set of images (I failed at this one). First time using Lightroom.
On that last point. It annoys me that Lightroom was as relatively-easy to use as it was, and that it provided a nicer base "straight out of the box" than Darktable does. I don't really like the overly-saturated look so a lot of the import defaults didn't do it for me, but where Darktable would need every photo to be edited to not be completely drab and flat (the reason I have a blanket "apply to all" preset for all my DT imports), a fair few of the images I'd taken correctly (exposed well and account for lighting in, mostly) were fine just as they were as soon as they were imported.
That is, of course, not to say the images aren't still very saturated. I'm not sure if it's because I've gotten used to the way DT does things, but LR's colours still feel a bit too much to my eyes.
I still have an incredible dislike for Adobe; their business practices are damaging at best, and I'm reasonably convinced their core benefit now is to drive innovation in competing products. I hope Canva's recent "acquisition" of Serif (and therefore Affinity) doesn't herald the appearance of AI tools in Affinity products. I hope Darktable gets some more beginner-focussed modules, so I could feel like I don't need access to Lightroom in order to get nicer pictures. Perhaps I should see this all as a sign I need to learn some extra stuff.
Anyway. This is, then, photos I took while at a campsite to the north of Aberystwyth (near Borth) that's run by a couple of my family members, with a focus on sustainability: Ffosygrafel Isaf Camping. Expect lots of explanatory captions.
